The most attractive sports center in Venezuela is the country's largest football stadium, the Monumental Stadium (Estadio Monumental de Maturín). The capacity of the stadium is almost 52 thousand spectators. The construction of such a large-scale arena became possible thanks to an investment of 150 billion bolivars. The size of the stadium field is 105x70 meters.
This place was built for the Copa América, which was organized in Venezuela for the first time in 2007. The arena was opened in June 2007 with the premiere match between the national teams of Hungary and Venezuela. By the way, the stadium is also the venue for the football matches of the Monagas Sport Club.
The arena is equipped with the largest stands of any stadium built for the 2007 Copa América, and its large capacity provides an excellent overview of the game and numerous opportunities for broadcasting (44 radio stations, 8 television studios, and a press center).
The arena has a shopping center located at the bottom of the eastern platform, as well as 110 five-star apartments. In general, the commercial area is almost 26.5 thousand square meters.
Lighting is provided by a group of 160 floodlights, which makes the stadium an excellent venue for music and cultural events. The roof of the stadium (West and East stands) helps to neutralize the bright sunlight typical for that area, providing shade for all parts of the pitch.
The West stand has four changing rooms and an anti-doping control room, as well as a service area. The East stand has 30 commercial premises.
There are 3 elevators in the service part of the stadium. Two additional areas adjacent to the stadium allow warm-up, training, and preparation of teams before the game.
The changing rooms are equipped with four jacuzzis, individual benches, heated showers with an integrated air conditioning system. Similar comfortable conditions are offered for judges. Moreover, there is an exclusive parking for officials and players, separate changing rooms for referees and security officers.
