The La Guaricha Zoo is an urban zoological garden (Parque Zoológico La Guaricha) in Maturín, located in the city center at an altitude of just under 400 m above sea level.

The garden is home to native animal species typical of the Maturín region and the rest of Venezuela. It is state-owned: the administration is provided by the Municipality of Maturín and the Governorate of Monagas state takes administrative responsibility for supporting programs aimed at supporting the zoo.

The zoo got its name from a local word used to refer to a teenage girl representing the indigenous population of the region.

Previously, Maturín had only one zoological garden, the park Menca de Leoni. The organization of the La Guaricha Zoo took place from 1976 to 1978 on the initiative of the municipal council. The garden was opened in 1979; in 1993, it underwent a renovation that gave it a more modern look. The areas where animals are kept were also reconstructed for more suitable conditions for various types of inhabitants, as well as for the convenience of visitors.

The area of the zoo is 7 hectares with aviaries, green spaces, lakes; there are food stalls for visitors who come to the park for long walks. Not so long ago, animals of the cat family settled in the zoo. They settled in aviaries where the famous lion Casimiro lived.

On the well-kept, clean territory of the garden, there are children's attractions, an artificial lagoon where you can go boating, a playground for the youngest visitors, and a fountain. The zoo serves as home outside the wild for a variety of South American animals, birds, and reptiles. Its inhabitants are jaguars, pumas, deer, owls, cranes, toucans, monkeys, capybaras, alligators, blue-and-yellow macaws, and peacocks.
