Any child loves fairy tale characters and magic. But as soon as children grow up they believe less in miracles and heroes. Some of them continue to enjoy fictional stories. But there is only one person who devoted his entire life to myths and legends. He created a separate space where everyone can get acquainted with the mythology of his native country - Paraguay.

The founder of the mythological museum, Ramon Elias, had a passion for painting since childhood. He first graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Asunción, and later became a professor of painting and geometric art at the National College of Capiatá. The young professor's love for antiques prompted him to travel around the country in search of unusual examples. At this time, Ramon Elias met the elders of the local communities who immersed him in the ancient world and the history of mythical creatures. Since then, he has dedicated his life to the study and research of Paraguayan mythology, as well as the creation of an original collection, which later found its home within the walls of the museum.

The professor not only gathered an amazing collection, but he also managed to build the entire museum, become the architect and designer of its space and oversee all stages of construction from laying the first stone to placing valuable exhibits among the antique furniture. In 1979, the Mythical Museum Ramón Elías opened its doors. However, its founder could enjoy his creation for just a couple of years. A tragic accident in 1981 took the professor's life into a mysterious world, where he was forever reunited with his mythical characters. After the death of the great explorer Ramon Elias, the museum project was continued by his wife and business partner Elsa de Elias.

The building of the modern museum consists of three rooms. Visitors are greeted by the mysterious creatures of Paraguayan mythology in the first room. Here you can learn the history of each character, their role in people's lives and their beliefs. In the second room, there are ancient liturgical objects of the first Jesuits and Franciscans in the country. The last room is filled with photographs and personal belongings of Ramon Elias.
