Remire-Montjoly is a picturesque part of the coast of French Guiana. The beach is located in the village of the same name, 10 km southeast of the capital. This is the closest holiday coast to Cayenne, and it is also considered the most beautiful in Guiana.
Guianesians know how to appreciate natural opportunities, inviting guests to devote time to their favorite activities: to successfully complement sunny and sea holidays by sea fishing, canoeing, or rafting.
The beach line in Remire-Montjoly is long and narrow. The sprawling emerald palm trees that frame the beach and create areas of shady comfort, the gold of pure sand, the opportunity to discover tropical flora and fauna. This place is so calm and peaceful that locals also like to relax there along with guests from all over the world. Although the beach is popular, it is almost always sparsely crowded or even deserted. So this is a great option for resting alone with nature and without any equipment for modern comfort. The tourist infrastructure near the beach is poorly developed. It should also be borne in mind that the beach is more suitable for those who like to sunbathe, there are fewer opportunities for swimming: there is a lot of silt in the water. The coastline, open to the decisive winds and waves, is popular with kitesurfing fans.
If you want to diversify your beach holiday, you can go on sightseeing tours: for example, to the old sugar factory, or explore the ruins of Fort Diamant, located by the sea not far from the beach. You can also walk to the mountain or the forested Mahuri hill.
It is worth considering the peculiarities in choosing a season for recreation in this part of South America: French Guiana is adjacent to the Amazon forests, and in January and February it often rains heavily. After this, there is a slight lull in this overseas department of France, and from April to July rainy weather starts reigning again. So it is better to choose the months from August to December for the most comfortable beach holiday.
