The Museum of Space (Musée de l'Espace) is located in Kourou, a French overseas region and department - French Guiana.

Perhaps, this thematic museum is closer to space than other institutions in its category: it operates on the territory of the Guiana Space Center (Center spatial guyanais), near the Kourou spaceport.

The spaceport serves as a working platform for the European Space Agency and the National Centre for Space Studies (France), satellites are launched from there on the Vega, Soyuz, and Ariane-5 rockets.

The center is located on the Atlantic coast, 50 km from the capital of the department, the city of Cayenne.

This museum is a universal educational and scientific center for adults and young visitors. Anyone who is keen on space and has many questions about it will be able to get answers there. How was space formed? What are the main and great moments of space exploration? Who was the first astronaut to walk on the moon? How are ships launched? Hundreds of answers and thousands of curious nuances related to space can be found on stands and permanent interactive exhibitions! Besides, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions and a planetarium.

The planetarium in the Museum of Space provides an opportunity to saturate oneself in the "reading" of the sky or learning to navigate in time and space without a clock and a compass.

Under the inflatable dome, there is a special projector that reproduces the picture of the sky, constellations, and other stellar treasures of night French Guiana and the southern hemisphere. During a visit to the planetarium, you can learn (or perhaps call to mind) the history of the creation of a constellation map, and legends associated with the constellations (Orion, Cygnus), find the constellations of the zodiac calendar (Scorpio, Leo), test your ability to navigate (Ursa Major, Polar Star, Southern Cross), do not get lost among celestial objects (galaxies, the Milky Way).

The programs are designed for guests aged 3 years and older, the duration of the sessions is 30 minutes. There is a themed gift shop at the entrance to the museum. The Space Museum is open all year round from Monday to Saturday (except for public holidays and annual closing in the first week of September).
