The capital of Alagoas is known for its amazing nature. To fully appreciate its beauty, you should go to Maceió Municipal Park. It occupies an impressive area of 82.4 hectares. A conservation area is an ideal place for family outings with children.

Maceió Municipal Park was opened in 1978 and is a conservation area for animals and plants of the Atlantic Forest. There are alligators, herons, armadillos, hawks, owls, foxes, anteaters, sloths, iguanas, and snakes. And the local flora is represented by 253 different species.

In total, five ecological trails are open to visitors: the main trail (1,748 meters long), the adventure trail (774 meters), the peace trail (152 meters), the forest trail (321 meters), and the Trilha do Pau Brazil (187 meters). Don't be afraid to get lost there - employees patrol the area on foot or ATV. And the conservation area is guarded 24 hours a day. By the way, there are springs from which you can drink water. That is exactly what you need on a hot Brazilian day!

According to many visitors, the main attraction of Maceió Municipal Park is Lago das Nifeas. This lake is in the center of the main trail. It is widely known as the Recanto dos Jacarés because it is home to several species of alligators. So the most daring guests can see predators that swim freely from an observation deck built in the middle of the lake.

The park is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you want to visit it with a guided tour, then you should pre-register for it by email. However, there are also regularly organized hikes for visitors - maybe you are lucky to get them without a request. Moreover, lectures are organized for naturalists. During the lectures, practical classes are also held. By the way, admission to the conservation area is free of charge.
