Unusual places

Close to the city of La Paz, 10 kilometers from the center, there is an unusual place leading to another world. You get a feeling that you come to an alien planet. It is unfamiliar but very beautiful.

It is called the Moon Valley - Valle de la Luna. It has such a name because the landscapes look like the surface of the moon, mottled with craters and decorated with miraculous turrets of various shapes and sizes.

Speaking in scientific terms, the Moon Valley is not a valley at all. It is a mountainside that became a canyon. La Paz is located in a special climatic zone with frequent pouring rains and strong winds, usual for highlands. So, it is clear that figures in Valle de la Luna are a physical phenomenon. Rocks are washing out and weathering. But even if we understand the origin of the valley, it looks amazing.

Valle de la Luna is the perfect place for a one-day trip. You can get here by car or bus, or you can take a tour with a guide. He will tell you many interesting details about this unusual sight.

The Moon Valley has two main walking routes. The first one is quite short, it goes through the main sites. The second one is about an hour long. It leads to the observation deck of Devil Cape with a breathtaking view of the valley.

If you want to see how the Moon Valley looks in the moonlight, you can stay in campsites for one night or longer. It is made for the convenience of travelers.
