The culture, art, and traditions of Bolivia are very interesting. They are original, bright, and even frightening. It is better to learn something about it in special museums. For example, in El Alto, there is Antonio Paredes Candia Museum of Art. It is the first modern cultural center in the city with valuable exhibits and fascinating thematic events.
Antonio Paredes Candia is a famous Bolivian writer and researcher of national folklore. He was preserving traditions. So, it was important for him to create a space where everyone can admire folk heritage.
Antonio was thinking about his museum project for 12 years. His attempts led to the establishment of Museo de Arte Antonio Paredes Candia in El Alto in 2002. In the country, there are no analogs.
More than 500 works of art and 11 thousand books are exhibited here. It is the writer's library. On the first level of the museum, there is the Wálter Solón Romero watercolor and graphics hall, showcases with religious amulets and totems, and colonial sculptures. Besides, you can see the author’s room with books that he wrote. On the second level, there is the "Antonio Llanque Huanca" hall exhibiting paintings by local and foreign artists. The third and fourth levels are dedicated to archeology, while the fifth one is dedicated to sculpture.
Besides, you can see the immense collection of historical artifacts and an archive of documents. The employees of Museo de Arte Antonio Paredes Candia say that this archive is one of the largest and most detailed in Bolivia. What is more important, it is open to ordinary people, so you only need to request to visit it.
It should be mentioned that this museum is one of the highest points in the city. So, one of its balconies can be safely called an observation deck. You can take captivating photos of El Alto staying there.
