Earlier, everything was extremely secret. Boys and girls were dreaming to surf the space, but the data about the latest innovations in rocket and aircraft construction was highly classified. But today, at the Smithsonian University National Air and Space Museum you can easily make up for everything.

The exposition starts right from the entrance, which is free, by the way. In the big hall, rockets and planes are exhibited. You need to rub elbows with other tourists to come closer, but it is worth it. What is striking is that in the American Museum, the first thing you meet is a Soviet missile, SS-20 “Pioneer”. It is located to the left of the entrance. Come closer, look up, and admire the size and power of this missile.

On the right side of the hall, airplanes and rockets are seen in a crowd of people. The museum is divided into the historical part and halls with industry innovations.

Here you can see the layout of the Wright brothers’ first plane, the muscle-powered aircraft that was used to cross the English Channel. In addition to airplanes and missiles, there is the Zeppelin airship that flew between Berlin and New York, until it burned down in a fire.

Speaking about aviation of the Second World War, people often remember German and Soviet fighters. The National Air and Space Museum also has the Japanese Zero. After its construction on December 7, 1941, hundreds of soldiers died in Pearl Harbor.

It is interesting to see how ordinary people were flying. The civil aviation hall has many exhibits. For example, here you can become a passenger of Boeing 747 and see the cabin of the Airbus.

In the Space hall, everything is ready for a space flight. There are missiles, spacesuits, the lunar module of the Apollo ship, and a real miracle - a lunar mobile!

Surprisingly, the museum does not diminish the accomplishments of national cosmonautics, even on the contrary.

You will be delighted with this museum!
