The Japanese garden is divided into thematic gardens and other areas. Here are Tee Garden, Sand and Stones Garden, Tsubo Niwa, Bonsai Terrace, and Pavilion. Besides, people have recently built Cultural Village. You can find Art Gallery, a library, an educational center, and a patio. Guests can visit an Umami thematic cafe and a gift shop. 

On average, people spend about 2 hours to have a complete tour. But a staff advises not to rush. It is one of the places where you can think and enjoy the silent beauty. People need to follow certain rules. It is prohibited to be loud and disturb others. If you break these rules, you need to pay a fine. 

Portland Japanese Gardens is an entrance to the Japanese culture for inhabitants and guests of the city. Almost every week, especially on busy days, thematic events take place here. Visitors learn about Japanese heritage, national peculiarities of life and culture. You can visit a tea ceremony, try sake, listen to music, and enjoy art. 

From March to September, the Japanese Garden is open from 10 AM to 7 PM, except for Monday and Sunday. On Monday, it opens at noon and closes at 7 PM. From October to February, its working hours are from noon to 4 PM. You can buy tickets online or at the Garden Hotel. The ticket costs $ 18.
