Squares, Parks, Gardens

Death Valley is the hottest, driest, lowest above sea level, and most insidious National Park in the United States. It is located in the Mojave deserts near the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California. Its part takes over an enclave near the town of Pahrump in Nevada.

The name of this place speaks volumes. It was given to this National Park in the 19-20th centuries when many people died here during the Gold Rush. Due to the extreme climate with record heat and drought, the lack of high-quality roads, cellular communications, and mobile Internet, Death Valley National Park is still one of the most dangerous parks in the country. Traveling through it can be a difficult experience for untrained tourists. However, numerous warnings do not deter those who want to learn about the unreal landscapes of Death Valley and test their strength.

To reach your destination, you will have to either rent a car or book a bus tour from Las Vegas or Los Angeles. The second option is easier, but the first will allow you to visit the most inaccessible places and see a lot more interesting things. The most important thing is to take care of your safety in advance: protect your head from the scorching sun, stock up on drinking water, food, and fuel.

To see Death Valley from a bird's-eye view, appreciate its endless sandy and rocky open spaces and enjoy truly unearthly landscapes, go to the Dante’s View terrace, located at the top of the Black Mountains. It offers a wonderful panorama of Badwater Basin – a hollow that appeared after the draining of former Lake Manly. You can also see the Panamint Range in all its glory, and the highest point of the Sierra Nevada Range – Mount Whitney – located behind it.

Many people come to Death Valley, where once was Lake Racetrack Playa, to see the amazing and mysterious phenomenon. We are talking about stones that move on a flat cracked surface of the earth and leave noticeable traces behind them.

Besides, this National Park has many canyons, hiking trails, and routes for trips on four-wheel-drive cars, as well as on horseback. There are many abandoned mines and ghost towns, but also campsites and oases for tourists.
