Harley-Davidson Museum tells the history of the legendary motorcycle company. The headquarters are located in Milwaukee, so the museum was opened here.
A motorcycle company was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by Walter Davidson, Arthur Davidson, William A. Davidson, William S. Harley. In 1903, they produced the first motorcycle. However, it was a bicycle with a motor. Later, the motorcycles were modernizing and acquiring a different look.
Though the company was producing motorcycles since 1903, it was registered only in 1907. That time, founders named it Harley-Davidson Motor Company of Milwaukee. Year after year, the craftsmen were working and modernizing motorcycles. By 1909, they got their modern look. The success of the company was reached by elaborate advertising. Motorcycles have become a symbol of a real man who is popular among women.
During the First World War, the company got its first official military order – 500 motorcycles for the British Army. In 1919, motorcycles were ordered for the army of the United States. After that, Harley-Davidson was related to power and authority. It increased its sales among private owners.
Every owner of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle can join the community of this brand. Surprisingly, it is the largest club today. More than a million people are its participants.
Now the museum exhibits more than 450 models of motorcycles and thousands of artifacts telling about the work of this enterprise. Here are photographs of the first motorcycle. It was located in the yard of the Davidson family for several years. You can also see dismantled engines, mopeds that the company was producing for some time, and all the advertising posters.
