The coral castle is called a castle, but it is a kind of eccentric vision of the art of American Edward Leedskalnin. In 1984, the castle was included in the National Register of Historic Places. Now it is private and open to visitors all year round.

It is known that the construction lasted 28 years, Edward Leedskalnin even did not let anyone see it. According to Edward, it was made only by him, and the only mechanism he used was a “holder for the perpetual motion”. Construction was completed in 1923, and the castle was opened. Pay only 10 cents, and you see what Edward Leedskalnin built. Moreover, until the end of his life, he was improving his buildings.

Today, on the territory of the castle, you find stone walls, furniture, decorative elements, and even a tower. Its weight exceeds a thousand tons. Interestingly, stones are holding together without any glue or cement. Leedskalnin specially installed them. They were holding of its weight. After many decades, the stones have not moved. They survived the hurricane Andrew of the fifth category.

The most interesting construction in the castle is a two-story tower. Leedskalnin lived there for the rest of his life. The walls of the tower are made of stones, their height is 2.5 meters. Pay attention to the sundial, obelisk, well, fountain, various armchairs, tables, bed, and even throne.
