The Festival of Santiago de Querétaro is an annual artistic and cultural event that takes place during Holy Week in the spring. This is vacation time. So locals and tourists can spend all eight days there, forget about everything, and enjoy the culture of Mexican people.

Each year, the festival has a specific theme for all its events. This may be related to art, music, literature, or time, such as the Middle Ages or modern times. All events are held in various places of the city: theaters, museums, gardens and parks, squares and even streets. The main venues are the Guerrero Garden and the Zenea Garden, the Regional Museum and Cinema Cineteca Rosalío Solano.

The first day of the festival begins with a parade through all the central streets of the historic center of the city. It ends in the main square of the city, where all the statesmen gather for the official opening of the festival. From this moment on and throughout the week, thousands of people can attend hundreds of events dedicated to music, songs, and dances, theater, and cinema, photography, painting, and literature. Both Mexican and foreign artists display their art everywhere. You can meet famous Mariachi singers, dancers from Argentina and Brazil as well as artists from Italy. The entire art world gathers in one place to surprise its viewers. Concerts of both traditional and modern music of various musical genres, from jazz to rock, take place at all venues in the city.

The colorful festival ends with several culinary events. Everyone can taste the dishes of Mexican national cuisine as well as learn how to cook them. At this time, many restaurants in the city hold special workshops for adults and children.
