On the small campus of the Universidad Tecnológica de Nezahualcóyotl, there is the main attraction of Nesaualcoiotl. Thousands of tourists, football lovers, and loyal fans of the local Toros Neza come to the Estadio Neza 86 Stadium.

The construction of this large arena was related to the World Cup of 1986. But its opening took place much earlier, in 1981, five years before the planned date. Initially, the stadium was called “Estadio José López Portillo”. But it got its current name during the Championship. The very first club paying there was FC Deportivo Neza, known as Coyotes. Since entering the Premier League División de México in 1978, it needed its arena. So, it was glad of the opening of Estadio Neza 86 Stadium. But because of the withdrawal from the Premier League and financial difficulties in 1988, Coyotes should leave their homeland. FC Atlante UTN Potros Neza took their place. Their success was not so long. A couple of years later, the club broke up. In 1993 FC Toros Neza, known as “Bulls”, got its rights. 

Unfortunately, the Mexican Football Federation questioned the suitability of Estadio Neza 86 for Premier League. And the stadium emptied. From that time, all home games of the Bulls were held in Pachuca de Soto, the Hidalgo stadium. After a small reconstruction of the stadium in Nesaualcoiotl in 1994, the major league games were showing in Estadio Neza 86 again till the year of 2000.

Now, the stadium functions as a home arena of FC Toros Neza. Though it is in good condition ad can contain about 20 thousand spectators, only a few team games are held here.
