It is difficult to imagine a more visited place than the capital of Mexico, Mexico City. It is the noisiest, brightest, and most eventful city of the country. That is why a place “Puppet Island”, located close to it, looks even weirder. Perhaps it is the most unusual and sinister island in the world. But despite the stories of residents and rumors of its curse, this place is very popular. Thousands of tourists annually go here for the thrill. They want to get the adrenaline flowing.

According to the stories, a few years ago, the daughter of one fisherman, Julián Santana Barrera, drowned in the coastal waters of the island. A few days later, a heartbroken father found her old doll with her. He thought that his little girl’s soul lived in it. So, he tied it to a tree. Since then, Julián Santana Barrera has dedicated his life to old broken dolls, found all around. Some of them were brought by residents. Over time, the island became a cemetery of more than a thousand children's toys.  The amateur of old dolls died soon, and journalists wrote about him. So, the “gloomy island” turned into one of the most popular tourist sites in the world.

Today, “Puppet Island” is an open-air museum, which his family keeps on donations. There are no means of communication. It is possible to get there only by boat through the channels of Xochimilco. Such entertainment would be good for fans of the Chucky killer doll, a character in the horror movie. Dozens of creepy dolls with empty eye sockets, broken faces, and limbs hang on each building and each tree. Some of them are on the branches, some of them are attached to tree trunks. They all form the ugly world of dead dolls, remaining in the memory of visitors for a long time.
