The heritage, artistic and cultural life of an area can attract tourists and create better quality of life for those who live there.
An Italian student smashed a Greek sculpture at Milan’s Academy of Fine Arts of Brera after he hopped on its lap in order to capture that perfect selfie.
Every year on December 23, the Mexican state of Oaxaca presents the most impressive display of carved vegetables in the world.
Vancouver is interesting not only for its old city districts and museums. There is also a rather unusual attraction – the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge. By the way, many tourists begin to explore the city with it.
Let's start with the fact that this bridge is completely safe since it was recently completely restored and renovated. In other words, now tourists walk not on the historical bridge, but on its restored copy. The original floors fell into disrepair and became dangerous for use in the middle of the 20th century.
The first bridge was built in 1889 by an individual project of a brilliant specialist from Scotland, George Grand McCain. It was made of hemp rope and cedar planks. The bridge made of such simple materials had a length of more than 130 meters. Besides, it was located at an altitude of 70 meters above the Capilano River. At that time, it was the longest suspension bridge made without additional supporting structures.
This miracle of engineering immediately began to draw attention. After all, not everyone will dare to walk at such a height on a reliable, but still quite fragile structure. However, there were always daredevils who were ready to cross the bridge. At first, spectators gathered around the bridge to watch those brave ones. Even now, hundreds of tourists come to see this beauty and check whether they dare to overcome these 130 meters of the bridge without fear.
Today, the bridge is private property. Additional pedestrian paths and recreation areas were organized next to the bridge. All this is illuminated by beautiful lights in the evening. Perhaps this unusual beauty made the bridge so popular. Tourists even say: if you haven't seen the Capilano Bridge, you haven't seen Vancouver.
