"Last we forget": these are the words that are transmitted in Morse code through special windows in the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa.

War is terrible. It bears nothing but misery, despite all the goals for which it began. This is what we need to remember. The Canadian War Museum in Ottawa was built for this purpose.

There are no photos of dead soldiers or images of violent battles. Among the exhibits, there are military weapons of different times, equipment, documents. It becomes a little sad when you look at the guns: you imagine a terrible picture of the battle. Nevertheless, the museum is necessary and worth visiting to once again remind you of this horror and understand that there is hope for the future as long as people remember.

The museum has four exhibitions dedicated to the military situation both in Canada and in the rest of the world.

The first exhibition is dedicated to Canada at the time of the Indians. The exhibition covers everything up to 1885. There you can see what weapons the Canadian aborigines fought with, learn about the conflicts between the locals and the first Europeans.

Following the chronology of events, you need to go to the hall "For Crown and Country". There you will learn about the participation of Canadians in the war for the British Empire. The exhibition ends with the year when Canada became independent.

One of the most interesting exhibits of the next exhibition is a Mercedes limousine. There is nothing special about it, except the fact that it was driven by Adolf Hitler. This exhibition tells about the horrors of the Second World War. It's called "Forged in Fire".

The next exhibition is probably the worst. It covers contemporary military conflicts - "A Violent Peace: The Cold War, Peacekeeping and Recent Conflicts".

These are permanent exhibitions. There are also thematic ones.
