After walking around the city, you need to freshen up, make up your mind, and think about all the impressions you had today. You need to take a rest in the local Somers Garden Park. It is one of the best places in St. George's Parish.
Passing the stone gate and iron fence, you come to an incredible park. Stepping on a rocky path, you feel that tiredness goes away.
You see that the park is very neat. The sculptures in Somers Garden are clean while bushes and hedgerows are well groomed. Not so long ago, people installed a fountain in the center of the park. Now, Somers Garden Park calms and refreshes even more.
The park is named after the founder of Bermuda, Admiral Sir George Somers. He loved these islands so much. In 1609, his ship was wrecked. He needed to go to Virginia, but the ship crashed against reefs next to the future St. George. The colonists had to come ashore and stay in Bermuda. They built a second ship and go further 10 months later.
When the ship was complete, and people needed to go, enterprising George Somers left three people on the islands. He needed to show that the place was already taken. Unfortunately, Somers's dream of coming back to Bermuda did not come true. The admiral fell ill and died.
The parish of Bermuda and a park in it were named in honor of the founder.
Take a sandwich, fruit, and tea. You are ready for a picnic in this beautiful oasis. Even a simple meal seems like a culinary art here. Beauty and tranquility surround you. By the way, if you meditate, this place is for you.
Entrance to the park is free, it is open around the clock.
