You cross the bridge from Somerset to Boaz Island, admire gorgeous views, enjoy the beautiful weather, and the bright sun ... and you see a sailing yacht. And the mast is much taller than this small wooden bridge! You even do not know who wins in this battle… But suddenly, a man removes a wooden plank in the middle of the bridge, and yacht floats through it! A man puts this plank in its place, and you go to the end of the bridge and come to another island.

This is it Somerset Bridge in Sandy’s County in Bermuda. It is the smallest functioning drawbridge in the world. It is so unique and amazing!

You also can call the bridge an architectural monument. People built it to connect the two islands in 1620. It still has its initial look, like in the 17th century. But do not be afraid, it will not break down! Some time ago, it was restored. It may look like a wreck, but it is very strong.

Arriving in a new country, you usually look for some attractions that are known throughout the world. Crossing the Somerset Bridge, you do not even think that it is unique and built almost four hundred years ago. But it is one of the most interesting sights of Bermuda.

The bridge is small, but cars also drive along it. Due to an unusual system, drivers do not wait for hours in a traffic jam.

Look at your money! Take out the local banknotes and watch carefully. Yes, there is the smallest drawbridge in the world - Somerset Bridge. It deserves this status with its uniqueness.
