Admiralty House Park
Pembroke and surrounding

Squares, Parks, Gardens

On the territory of Bermuda, there are a lot of buildings made for the needs of the royal army. All of them are perfectly constructed because the military had all the best.

Admiralty House is this place. It was offered to the British Royal Navy by the government of Bermuda in the 1800s.

It is a quite big area, including a historic building, a beautiful park, beaches, and bays. Now we call it a sanatorium, but previously, there was not such a word. It was a residence of the admirals of the English army. For some time, a naval hospital occupied the territory, it was a center of the military rehabilitation.

The park has a lot of hiking trails. Each of them has a unique route, but they have one thing in common. They all lead to the ocean, opening an incredibly beautiful view.

If you walk along one of these paths, you can come to the top of a small cliff. Local boys adore this place because they can jump into the water from a cliff. Not every tourist wants to do the same, but all the people like to watch these young swimmers performing their tricks.

The park has a beautiful beach with a shallow lagoon. It is a perfect place to learn how to dive. But it is better to come here in the daytime. In the evening, local boys show their skills here.

People who want to see more interesting places of rest need to come to the Admiral's Cave. It was built by prisoners in 1860. And the main function of this place was not a military fortification or headquarters, but a secret meeting spot for the military with their beloved. It is a such a romantic story.

Unfortunately, the Admiralty House has not been preserved. After the British left the island, they gave their property back to the Bermuda government in 1951. And the Admiralty House was abandoned and demolished. The only thing left is a ballroom.
