Thousands of ships, noise, mixed voices of sailors, workers ... most likely this is what Albert Dock looked like 150 years ago. The place was named after Prince Albert, who came to the opening of the world's largest and one of the first closed docks.
This is a truly special building and architectural monument. Albert Dock is built only of stone, cast iron, and brick! There is not a single piece of wood! Once this place was a symbol of the heyday of Liverpool – the largest port in the country! On one side is the sea, on the other – the mighty walls of the dock. This is one of those places where the strength and power of humanity can be felt.
Today, the Albert Dock is still impressive. Even though ships stopped anchoring there in 1972 and it was abandoned for several years. But then a new stage of its development began. Now more than a million square feet of space is home to trendy restaurants, bars, five-star hotels, stores, and offices of large and small companies. And how many museums there!
