Play golf, see the fortress, and participate in falconry – all this can be done at Leeds Castle.
Whether it's the air, or the beauty of nature, or the incredible scale of the castle, the lips spread in a happy smile, the eyes light up, and the hands just want to hug someone, and then whisper tender words…that's how romantic it is!
Leeds Castle is considered one of the most fabulous castles in England. It was built by a Norman Baron long ago in the 11th century. After 150 years, the castle was slightly rebuilt, getting a more romantic look. It was favored by English kings. Monarchs came to take a break from the bustle of the capital, walk along shady alleys, hunt and admire nature.
The most famous owner was Henry VIII. He rebuilt the castle, turning the Norman fortress into an English Royal Palace. And all this was done for love! Why is it surprising that there is such a romantic atmosphere? Henry arranged repairs for the sake of his first wife, Catherine of Aragon.
In our time, the President of Egypt and the foreign minister of Israel were met at Leeds castle. Now if you are planning a wedding in the style of "Middle Age", you can rent a castle and come to the altar on a white horse...or arrange a concert by a rock band. The castle is private property and can be rented.
But you can see a lot just by going there for a day. For example, magic black swans on the river Len and other exotic birds. You should definitely get lost in the green labyrinth of the Culpepper Garden: on the territory of the castle, there are more than two thousand yew trees that have become giants for several centuries.
You can also play golf and participate in falconry. It involves eagles, owls, hawks, and falcons. But if the weather is not very good, the show will be canceled.
