The hero of the popular TV series "The Bridge", a symbol of two European states, Sweden and Denmark, at once, a real masterpiece of industrial architecture, the famous Oresund Bridge is a whole complex consisting of the bridge itself, the island, and the tunnel. The bridge spanning the Oresund strait has become the longest combined bridge in Europe. It combines a railway track and a four-lane motorway. Connecting the Danish capital of Copenhagen with the Swedish city of Malmo, the two-story wonder has immediately become a place of attraction for all travelers and photographers of renowned publications. It is visited by millions of tourists every year, especially since the bridge has become a symbol of the connection between Sweden and Europe at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013.

Construction of the legendary bridge began in 1995. Despite the various difficulties faced by the builders and engineers, the ambitious project was completed in 5 years, even earlier than planned. The official grand opening was attended by such honorary guests as Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. The opening was accompanied by a beautiful ceremony, a symbolic meeting of the Danish Crown Prince Frederick and the Swedish Crown Princess Victoria in the middle of the bridge.

Neither the 16 bombs of the Second World War found at the bottom of the strait, nor the distortion of some fragments of the tunnel prevented the bridge with a total length of about 16 kilometers from connecting the two countries and becoming absolutely unique.

The aboveground part of the bridge with an underwater tunnel connects the artificial island of "Peberholm" (Pepper Islet). Indeed, there is enough "spice" in this design. From a bird's eye view, it seems that the bridge goes nowhere, into the depths of the underwater kingdom of Triton.

The Danes turned out to be very cheerful and named the island "Saltholm" (Salt Islet). It was a stroke of genius to create the small island, 4 kilometers long and 500 meters wide, to combine the two parts of the bridge without making a sharp change, while maintaining the aesthetically pleasing appearance of the whole structure.
