Whether you are traveling with children or adults, you will certainly like this zoo. It is huge, so it is hard to see everything here in a whole day. Forty hectares of the zoo house not only enclosures with all kinds of animals, but also administrative buildings, a modern veterinary center, various cafes, playgrounds, and even barbecue areas.
Today, Boras Zoo is home to more than 80 species of animals, and their number exceeds one and a half thousand. The most amazing thing is that despite a rather cool climate this zoo is home to many African animals: there are common lions or elephants and unusual eastern bongos, Bornean orangutans, and African wild dogs.
At the entrance to the zoo, it seems that a small provincial town has nothing to surprise you with. But later, when you walk along the paths and see how freely a family of lions walks and how good they feel, you understand that it is possible to arrange a comfortable life for wild animals in captivity. This is amazing!
All the visitors like a family of elephants. Just imagine an aviary where a calf is playing and a peaceful mother is watching it.
It is also worth mentioning the barbecue areas. It's very unusual to roast meat next to walking lions and screaming monkeys. Indeed, this place doesn't look like small zoos with iron cages.
By the way, this zoo has a conservation program that aims to create all the conditions for animal breeding. Thus, wild animals do not suffer from the stress of being in captivity and the constant presence of people nearby.
It is very pleasant to visit a place where the management moves with the times and understands that zoos must take care of both animals and visitors.
