A hundred words in all the languages of the world are not enough to describe the glacial Lake Bled: deep, blue, crystal clear, mirror-like, enigmatic and mysterious, beautiful and fascinating. It wins the hearts of visitors at first sight, remains in the memory forever, and beckons to repeatedly return to this fabulous part of Slovenia, the pearl of the Balkan Peninsula.
Surrounded by the Julian Alps with first-class ski resorts, thermal springs at the foot, and ancient historical monuments, the wondrous Lake Bled is hidden from tourists, just like the most valuable treasure. No wonder it has always been praised by poets and artists. Its warm, gentle waters invite you to take a dip, swim, dive, and then rent a traditional wooden boat "pletna" and go to the wonderful island in the heart of the azure lake.
Although the natural scenery is already a decent reason to come to the wonderful island, curious tourists also want to visit the modest old church of the Assumption of Mary with a charming bell tower and the world-famous bell of wishes. Whether wishes come true or not depends on the purity of the guests' intentions, but the fabulous view from the height of the bell tower is an ironclad reward for everyone.
Another fabulous local attraction is the massive stone castle of Bled. It seems to guard the entire island standing at the top of a rocky cliff about 130 meters high.
You can also walk along the entire perimeter of the legendary lake, which is only 6 kilometers. Bask in the sun on one of the beautiful sandy beaches, admire the grace of swans floating on the lake's water surface, and go to a local bar in the evening, at nightfall. Local bars invite all travelers, regardless of their nationality, race, or religion, to dance and sing until the morning. Just don't forget to wake up in the early morning at least once to see the wonderful sunrise and watch the mirror fish splashing at the shore.
