Even though Slovakia has no direct access to the sea, locals love to come to rest on water bodies, including lakes and rivers. Slovakia is famous for its clean and pristine nature. So they enjoy swimming in picturesque places outside the city. However, the capital also has several popular places for recreation.
One of them is the new Magio Beach (Magio Pláž), located on Tyrsovo embankment (Tyršovo nábrežie) near the UFO Bridge on the right bank of the Danube. The beach was opened in 2017 and immediately became a favorite place for both locals and tourists, especially young people. It is easy to get there by tram (get off at the Sad Janka Kráľa stop).
This is a wonderfully designed, trendy space for relaxation, where it is nice to come at sunset to drink a cocktail and sit up on a sun lounger, enjoying the views of the river and the picturesque landscape. Here you can take colorful photos of the city symbol, the fabulous Bratislava Castle.
The beach club is open during the summer: from mid-June to early September. Although the Danube in this area is not very suitable for swimming, citizens still enjoy their holidays right in the city center. There is an artificially created beach with golden sand, equipped with comfortable sun loungers with cushions, cozy wooden flooring with canopies, changing cabins, and toilets. Besides, the main bar has a small swimming pool.
For lovers of active recreation, there are sports grounds, tables for table tennis, volleyball and football fields. Visitors to the beach enjoy playing badminton, building sandcastles, listening to relaxing music. The beach also has several bars and cafes with delicious food and even its own fruit market.
Magio Beach's is open from 10 am to midnight. Most of the city's historical sights are situated on the opposite riverbank.
