As soon as you unpack your bags and have a cup of coffee at your favorite coffee shop in your home city, you start to want to go on a trip again and come up with new ideas for adventures. But every time, all travelers face a difficult choice: to trace the history and learn something new or to come to nature and get an incredible boost of energy for the next year. And whatever you prefer, there are places in the world where it is possible to experience everything at once: enjoy the gifts of nature studying the lives of great historical figures. To do this, you do not need to walk a thousand miles, just visit the small Serbian city of Zrenjanin. Its history is closely intertwined with the legendary ruler of the Huns, Attila, and the nature of the local reserve fills tourists with incredible vitality.
Carska Bara, or Imperial Pond, is one of the largest nature reserves in Serbia. With an area of 16 square kilometers, it stretches along the Begej River for almost 10 km. Its entire territory is full of many small natural reservoirs and colorful flower meadows. The crystal-clear water of its lake is legendary, and the fragrance of the flower valley makes even deep-rooted skeptics become dreamers. Mallow and sage, irises, and orchids grow here, and the water surface of some reservoirs is covered with yellow and white water lilies. In total, the reserve is home to more than 500 plant species, some of which are under state protection. The fauna of these places is no less diverse: there are deer, wild boars, foxes, and hares. It is not uncommon to see turtles and fire salamanders. Besides, cormorants and herons have taken up residence near the local lakes and rivers full of fish.
The reserve is divided into four parts equipped with hiking and cycling trails and spacious observation decks. So they are considered ideal places for recreation and photography.
