Scheveningen

In the Hague, you can not just enjoy beautiful ancient buildings but have a good time at one of the best seaside resorts in the Netherlands, in the district of Scheveningen. Of course, the Hague is not a southern resort, but there is a wonderful sea and a lovely area with its attractive beaches and infrastructure.

Here you can walk along old streets and see a fine church built in the 15th century, take photos next to a lighthouse that has been working since 1875, enjoy the sounds of the sea while sitting on a beautiful seafront.

The famous hotel Kurhaus especially stands out with its unusual architecture. It was built in 1885 and included not only a hotel but a big concert hall. Unfortunately, the luxurious building did not last long in its original form: the next year after the construction ended, a severe fire damaged the whole hotel. It had to be restored, but the purpose was clear: Kurhaus should have preserved its original idea of looking like a rich palace.

Scheveningen also has a fascinating sculpture museum. Its shell-like appearance is not much attractive. But inside, guests will be surprised by unusual expositions. Modern artists reveal their associations and feelings incited by the sea in their sculptures. You can see some outlandish artworks outside the museum: nearby or even in the streets.

For those who love active rest, there is a surf village. It has everything for having fun sports time.

Another significant point is that Scheveningen is a district with regular large-scale entertainment and art events. Different festivals and holidays are worth attention.
