St. Anne's Church is one of the most important attractions in Vilnius. The first information about this church was found in documents at the end of the 14th century when it was a small wooden building. By the middle of the 15th century, a fire broke out in the church, which caused its restoration. Then some of the walls were replaced with stone and painted red. In this form, it has survived to this day.

Some tourists feel disappointed when they see the church because it is quite small. At least it doesn't look as big as it looks in the photo. Nevertheless, it clearly shows the grandeur and pretentiousness inherent in the Gothic style.

The most valuable element of the church is considered to be the facade. Connoisseurs of Gothic architecture call it the greatest masterpiece of architecture. Plastic merges with the variety and decorative forms in it. The symmetrical composition of the facade is emphasized by three towers of the same height, which in turn highlights the middle part of the building. Tall and slender towers, pointing upwards, despite their low height, give the impression that they reached up to the sky. Somewhere up there, high in the clouds, crosses rise above them.

Even though historians and architects believe that the interior is quite ordinary, the church is striking with a large number of stucco moldings and decorative wooden elements. Slender rows of benches of dark color make the light walls and ceiling of the church even higher than it is. High arched passages and stained glass windows give the impression of a comprehensive space, admiring its power.

The Church of St. Anna is open to everyone. You can come there at any time and admire the sophistication of architectural solutions. On weekends, there is a mass celebrated by monks from a nearby monastery.
