Football is the most popular activity in Italy. That is why Naples, like all the other large Italian cities, has the team and the stadium, which it owns. The amateurs of football must know the “Napoli” team and San Paolo Stadium, where it plays the home matches.

San Paolo is a popular sight of the city. It is worth visiting not just for people, loving football, but also those, who want to feel the spirit of Naples. You can do this in two ways: to buy the tickets to the match or have an excursion at the stadium. But do not forget to ask the schedule of its open hours. The games with the participation of the Napoli football club are very popular among the locals and tourists, it is better to buy the tickets in advance.

The excursions can be led in a group of 15 people.

San Paolo Stadium has a large size and can contain more than 60,000 fans, and you need to be prepared for the uproar at the stadium. Moreover, this football arena is in the number of the noisiest stadiums in Europe.

The San Paolo Stadium was opened for visitors in 1959, and a year later it became one of the grounds of the Summer Olympic Games.

It can be said that until 1984, this sports arena did not attract visitors’ attention. But then things changed when the management of the football club “Napoli” invited the famous football player Diego Maradona. That time, the Argentine striker already had a lot of fans, who followed the idol wherever he goes. That is why the matches with the participation of Maradona on the San Paolo Stadium had great success.

70,000 fans watched his first game in the “Napoli” team. The organizers sold even more tickets than the stadium stands could contain. Owing to popularity, connected with the personality of the great football player, “Napoli” could get the sum of money for the acquiring Maradona back.

1990 was the next significant year for the Naples arena when Italy became the host of the World Cup. The arena was renovated to the championship. The San Paolo Stadium hosted the games of group qualification, quarter- and semi-finals of the championship.

By the way, the stadium has a very developed infrastructure. To the service of the sportsmen, there are some gyms, a boxing ring, and an area for martial arts.
