The opinion, that all the attention of residents and visitors of Paris is always focused only on the majestic Louvre, is just a stereotype. In fact, in recent years, citizens and tourists are more attracted to the Orsay Museum with the largest collection of European art of the 19-20th century, located in the city center in the building of the former railway station on the left bank of the Seine. It is much easier to walk through its halls than to wander endlessly on the sidelines of the Louvre, and it has three times fewer visitors there. Experienced tourists recommend to walk around few hours in the Orsay Museum, and then continue cultural education in its department - the Orangerie Museum, located in the neighboring Tuileries garden behind the Léopold-Sédar-Senghor bridge.

About 3.5 million people visit the Orsay Museum every year. They see the magnificent decor of the former railway station, which has acquired the status of an architectural masterpiece of the last century. At the very beginning of the 20th century, the French artist Édouard Detaille noted that this building is associated with a beautiful Museum of Fine Arts, although at that time it served for the completely different purpose. Meeting with echoes of the past is a pleasant preparation to an exciting introduction to one of the most interesting periods in the history of art.

The Orsay Museum was inaugurated on December 1, 1986. The gallery's expositions are arranged according to the thematic principle and technical design of works. For example, impressionist paintings - the jewel of the Museum's collection - were placed on the fifth floor in the wing on the side of the Seine. Another feature of the museum is the collection of works of all types of fine arts of a very short but extremely productive period from 1848 to 1914. Thus, in the halls of the gallery, you can see paintings, sculptures, and decorative items at once.

From time to time, some metamorphoses occur in the museum, which can help you to immerse deeper into the viewing process and appreciate the works. For example, once the walls of the gallery turned from white to colored, and the exhibits were displayed in a new light.
