Not every traveler can afford to stay in the capital of Denmark. Hotels tend to be trendy, restaurants are luxurious, and museum admission tickets are among the most expensive in Europe. However, you can still have a fabulous time for free here. Just go to the Copenhagen Botanical Garden located in the heart of the Old Town.

The popular Danish garden is more than 4 centuries old. Founded at the beginning of the 17th century, it had changed its place more than once until it moved to its present-day place with an area of 10 hectares at the end of the 19th century.

More than 13 thousand plants and trees from all over the world grow in the magnificent landscape garden with stone-paved paths and amazing artificial waterfalls. It is difficult to imagine, but only 600 species of all this flora grow on the territory of Denmark. So the garden can be called the heritage of the entire world.

The real treasure of the garden is a huge greenhouse. It consists of 27 pavilions located at different heights. It is especially pleasant to climb the spiral staircase: the climate changes from temperate to tropical with each step. You can endlessly view the exotic and common plant species. Even a couple of weekends spent in the wonderful garden is not enough to get to know each of its inhabitants.

The Copenhagen Botanical Garden is also home to friendly squirrels. Funny little rodents will certainly appeal to children. Almost used to people, they will be deliriously happy to get their favorite treat – nuts.

Those who are ready to splurge on museum entrance tickets can go on an exciting tour to the Geological Museum inside the Botanical Garden or neighboring museums. The Royal Guard Museum and the State Museum of Art are just a few meters away.
