In Aalborg, Denmark, you can see the house, which attracts your attention, without any doubt: on Gammel Square, right opposite the Aalborg Town Hall is located a gorgeous, 5-floors building, considered a masterpiece of the Northern Renaissance style. This is a residence of a rich merchant Jens Bang, built by his order in 1624. 

Just look to a facade of the house! Its impressive look and luxurious, stylish facade say: “My owner is a successful and respectful merchant! I was built by the best architects in the world! How am I gorgeous! Admire me!”

And people do it: this perfect, 5-floors house, richly decorated and built for centuries – one of the most popular and, undoubtfully, interesting sights not just the city, but all Denmark.

The residence is made of a grey-brown color and covered with a red-tiled roof. It has 3 stepped gables, adding harmony to the street facade of a mansion, making it more expressive and impressive. 

Apart from the luxurious waving gables, the house is also attracting attention by an exquisite ornament over the windows, the central entrance in the form of a small tower with a stoned staircase, and statues of gargoyles . As time passed, the residence of a successful citizen turned to a monument of architecture – now it is considered as the largest building in the Renaissance style of Northern Europe.

During 3 centuries, the first floor of a house functioned as a pharmacy and now the whole building is private propriety. Some events and solemn meetings are taking place there. 

Despite the fact that the mansion is rather old, it is still in good condition, and the time added some self-esteem to it. So, this marvelous richly decorated building still declares: “I am so beautiful! Admire!” And we definitely will do it…
