Successful grape harvest is a good reason to celebrate! Every wine region will agree with this. In Moravia, which traditionally lives by the "rules of winemakers", each city arranges its celebrations. In Czech, these holidays are called "vinobrani", which means "grape harvest".

The city of Znojmo in mid-September is enlivened by medieval music, dancing, and jousting, the night shines with hundreds of torches, and the wine, of course, flows like a river. This is a celebration with a historical atmosphere, traditional crafts fairs, and games that the inhabitants of the region used to entertain themselves with centuries ago.

A grand celebration takes place in the heart of Znojmo. The festival combines old streets, squares, and buildings that are significant for the city, such as the town hall, churches, restaurants with wine cellars. Festivities with a tasting of Moravian wines and local gastronomic delicacies are always held from Friday to Sunday. It is better to plan your trip for the weekend. You can come for a few hours or a full day and also watch the night program with fire shows. Guests in historical costumes are welcome. The main thing is that costumes must correspond to the Middle Ages.

The most anticipated event in the program of "Znojemské vinobrani" is the costumed procession of King John of Luxembourg. This is a theatrical procession that gathers more than 500 participants in outfits that represent the fashion of past centuries. The most authentic scene with a historical atmosphere is the "street of the poor", where there are executioners, fortune tellers, monks, musicians, as well as all sorts of medieval charlatans, card players and other villains (there they are not real!).

There are cymbals, brass bands, and jousting tournaments on concert stages. In the evening, popular Czech soloists and bands perform on the main stage at Masaryk Square. And despite the adult theme of the party, Znojemské vinobrani is suitable for the whole family. For young visitors, there are competitions with adventures and medieval games.

What is special about it is the "Znojemské vinobrani"? Historical atmosphere with magnificent panoramas! The old part of the city is located on the high bank of the river Dyje. You can't help feeling that you are in the middle of a movie theater, and there are cameras lurking in every street and at every stage. But this is just a holiday, although the mood there is very real.
