If you decided to enjoy the beauty of Czech nature and went to the Karkonosze National Park to the spring of Elbe, then you can also visit the Elbe Falls located nearby.

The Karkonosze National Park is famous for its majestic cliffs, dense forests, numerous waterfalls, as well as hundreds of kilometers of hiking and cycling routes that run through all these stunning natural landscapes. The abundance of waterfalls in this area appeared due to icing during the anthropogenic era.

One of the most popular waterfalls in Karkonosze is the Elbe Falls. It’s not the only waterfall in the valley. It is located at an altitude of more than 1250 meters above sea level, and the length of its fall reaches about 45 meters. Then about 250 meters of water gently flows over the rocks to the very bottom of the valley. This is the most famous and one of the largest mountain waterfalls.

The riverbed gradually turns into a rocky gorge, which is complemented by the beauty of the Elbe Falls. Previously, the water was flowing down in a more powerful and straight stream. Today the waterfall is more like a cascade: its upper part is much wider than the lower one.

The beauty of the Elbe Falls is not the only thing that attracts many tourists. This place has become some kind of a shelter for rare and endangered plants that have been preserved here since the Ice Age. So, for example, some types of the one on the most favorite people’s winter cloudberry grow only here – near swamps.

To capture nature in all its glory, go up to the observation deck to enjoy the view of the Elbe Falls, and then descend into the Elbe Valley. It won’t be easy to get down over rocks and almost impassable roads, but the picturesque views of mountains, rocks, forests, and rivers are worth it. The valley is shaped like a specific horseshoe 8 kilometers long. The river has smooth and beautiful curves, but you should be careful when trying to get closer to it. Due to the high humidity and slippery surface of coastal rocks, this can be dangerous.
