Walking over the tops of trees along aerial paths mazes for several years has remained extremely popular among lovers of outdoor recreation. In the Czech Republic and Moravia, as well as in neighboring Slovakia and Germany, there are a dozen such forest mazes.
In the resort-protected area of Pustevny in the East of the Czech Republic, 30 km from the city of Frýdek-Místek, there is a panoramic trail Valaška. The total length of the forest path is 610 m, the section to the observation tower is 394 m, the tower itself reaches a height of 22 m, and for visitors, the highest point of elevation above the ground is 15.2 m. The tower is equipped with a glazed observation deck and a 150-meter suspended "sidewalk".
The path through the trees runs in the area of the upper station of the Pustevny cable car, near the cross-country ski track, about 250 m from the cable car to the top of Tanečnice. The upper" floor " of the tower is located at an altitude of 1099 m above sea level. In clear weather, it is possible to see mountains or Jeseníky mountain range Veľká Fatra in Slovakia.
The trail combines two unique technical solutions: a suspended walkway, the construction of which has not been used anywhere else in the country, plus a glass observation deck. A transparent platform gives you the feeling of being in the air literally above the tops of trees! Visual impressions are added to the feeling of airiness: a sea of trees under your feet and an excellent view of the Beskids mountain range. The ascent to the tower is complemented by information stands with interesting facts about the nature of Beskid.
27 trees were cut down during the construction of the trail. However, according to the foresters, there was no damage to the forest: only broken trees were removed, or those that were selected for planned felling. Eight people work in the maintenance of the track in the winter season, and in the summer season – and of course, there will be visitors! – twice as many employees will ensure the operation of the forest path.
