The Czech Republic has many beautiful places created by nature. One of them is the rock town of Adršpach, which is visited by many tourists from all over the world.
It takes about three to four hours to get around the entire natural attraction lengthwise and crosswise. But do not go off the trails and tourist routes – it is prohibited.
The journey through the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks begins with a picturesque lake. It appeared as a result of flooding of a sandpit and became an excellent addition to the mountain landscape. One of the hiking trails runs right along this lake. But if you choose a different path, it will lead you to a magnificent stone gorge and an incredibly beautiful Gothic Gate at the entrance to it.
How did such a construction appear in the middle of a dense forest and rocks? And why would anyone need a gate here? Maybe this is a former set for some science fiction movie? Or perhaps it's the work of the elves and dwarves who live here? Such thoughts are not the only ones that come to mind when you see a man-made gate in the middle of pristine nature.
The arch, which became a portal to the fabulous rock town, was built in 1839. Then these lands were bought by a man who actively supported the idea of improving and expanding the local territories. Thanks to his efforts, tourists from all over the world began to come to this town, and many people found out about the majestic Adršpach-Teplice Rocks. The gate turned out to be a kind of control at the entrance to the stone town, where travelers had to pay for the opportunity to see one of the main wonders of nature.
Be prepared for the fact that it will be quite difficult to take photos at the Gothic Gate. There are always a lot of tourists here, and a small structure is the only entrance to a rocky gorge that resembles a canyon.
The gate will take you to a completely amazing world filled with huge blocks of whimsically shaped stones. Some of them reach a height of almost a hundred meters and look like skyscrapers in megacities.
