Almost every major city has a beautiful venue where bright cultural events are regularly held. Somewhere, it is located in an ancient building or a temple, in other places, it may be housed in an ultra-modern theater. In Aglandjia, the Cultural Center "Skali" combines several interesting features at once.

Firstly, it is the first cultural center of this format to be built outside of the capital. Secondly, the modern architecture, which is present in this complex, is perfectly blended with the ancient ruins and natural landscape. Thirdly, it is a unique amphitheater with a specially created acoustic system, which makes it one of the most popular places for performances for musicians of any level.

And finally, it is just a beautiful place, where even without cultural events it is pleasant to sit, relax, and admire how human-made creations can organically intertwine with the surrounding world.

The main highlight of the Scali Cultural Center is not its magnificent concert hall but its beautiful caves, which are used as exhibition areas. Tiny lakes, low waterfalls, and streams are created here. All this produces a unique atmosphere of unity between nature and art.

The authors of this wonderful project were local architects I. Ioakim and A. Lioza, who won the competition held among the whole population of Cyprus to build a new cultural center. There was an incredible number of options offered. But this project became almost an absolute favorite, both among the jury and among residents of Aglandjia, who had to make the final choice.

In 1992, when the architects created the Skali, they tried to preserve all the morphological structure of the region's soils, all the surrounding objects: the old city center, churches, and an ancient cemetery. They managed to make the huge entertainment center not a foreign particle on the map of the city but a wonderful open-air concert hall that has become one of the main attractions not only of Aglandjia but also of the whole of Cyprus.
