One of the oldest European cities, Sozopol, is a favorite summer holiday destination for Bulgarians, as well as tourists who come here all year long. In summer, they are attracted by kilometers of golden sandy beaches, the gentle warm waves of the endless Black Sea, and the thick aromatic wines in ancient cellars with their history. In winter, Sozopol offers tourists historical monuments, luxurious collections of museums, and priceless paintings of galleries. And only one, the most important tourist attraction of Sozopol is available to tourists at any time of the year.
This attraction is the Old Town with its cobblestone streets and old wooden houses, which are still inhabited, despite the lack of lanterns in the entire historic quarter. But even in the dead of night, it is absolutely safe here: the crime rate in the city is almost zero, and locals are very friendly. By the way, they are always happy to share the history of their homeland, narrate mysterious legends, and, of course, treat travelers to traditional dishes.
Hardly anyone can get lost in the Old Town of Sozopol. Sightseeing here takes only a couple of hours at most. But it is better to stay longer and arrange a spectacular photoshoot against the background of colorful houses. Visit the famous restaurant with the funny name "Chuchura" to try a glass of local rakia right at the entrance, and then enjoy a pint of cool beer. Wander along the main street of Ropotamo, go down to the seashore, and take a boat trip. After all, what could be better than enjoying the view of the Old Town while sitting on the boat deck? Probably only coming to Sozopol for the grand City Day celebration, which takes place on July 17. On this day, the Naval Brass Band organizes a concert in the park between the Old and New Town, and cheerful street musicians sing and dance until the morning, inviting everyone to join the festivities.
