Burgas, a Bulgarian city, has a small zoo right inside of one of its quarters. It may seem that this zoo is no different from thousands of other living corners of nature around the world and not as big as usual European zoos. However, only the Burgas zoo makes the visitors stay until evening: its animals are so friendly and well-groomed. The zoo also has a real peacock farm.
The visitors of the zoo are welcomed at the entrance by a nest of storks with two magnificent birds. These birds nod their beaks in such a funny way, as they would like to invite everyone to enter and see all other inhabitants of the zoo. The zoo has shady alleys that save from the rays of the sun. The spacious aviaries with many animals of various spices from all over the world are placed on both sides of the alleys.
The high aviaries of the zoo are built for 25 exotic species of birds. They are interesting to watch from afar, however, it is also possible to feed them with specially selected food for each species. Moreover, over three hundred ostriches live on the territory of the zoo. It is possible to feed not only birds but also bright Japanese carp that swim in the local pond. I would say feeding fish, birds, and animals would be especially joyful for young travelers, who can also enjoy an exciting pony ride in the zoo. There is also a playground for children.
In total, the Burgas Zoo is home to 460 species of animals, including ducks and parrots, llamas and donkeys, as well as a large brown bear, which is more or less familiar for European visitors. However, the zoo also has rare species, such as platinum fox.
The peacock farm deserves special attention. It gives a possibility to enter the aviaries and take stunning photos. The peacocks are the rightful owners of the farm: they walk freely and usually are not afraid of visitors, constantly showing off their luxurious feathers. The owner of the farm has been breeding these birds for many years. Today, the farm is home to over 80 peacocks.
