Who doesn't like fast driving? Perhaps it is the love of speed that gives you a quivering attitude to skating down the hill. Every winter, everyone, from young to old, rushes to conquer the surrounding hills to toboggan with horror and delight. Well, I have some good news for you.
If you are going to the cute city of Wels, you do not have to wait for winter to ride a sled. This is where the stunning toboggan run Pendolino is located! Its length is two kilometers. The upper station, from which you will start the descent, is located at a height of 2000 meters above sea level.
The cheerful bright yellow booths can accommodate up to two people. They are open on three sides, which adds extreme sensations. But they are equipped with seat belts, which ensures that you do not go overboard on a sharp turn. The sleds are equipped with a brake system so that the descent speed can be controlled. Children are allowed to ride them accompanied by adults. This is an indescribable feeling.
This route is not the only one in the country. In general, Austria is quite sensitive to winter sports, including bobsleigh. After all, this sport has been considered an Olympic sport since 1924. However, unlike these recreational tracks, real bobsleigh tracks have clear regulations, failure to comply with which can lead to disqualification. There are rules about the size and weight of the sled. There is also a limit on the weight of the athlete.
Even the temperature of the skids must be within a certain range, otherwise, the ice under the sled will melt too quickly, affecting the speed. Athletes in competitions must finish with the sled, otherwise, they are removed from the competition race. On the track, however, it is allowed to get back on the sled and continue the descent.
