Tourists in Austria always climb the mountains. Traveling around the country without this will be incomplete. The Nordkette cable car is a great way to do climb the mountain while taking a bird's-eye view of the surrounding area! The view is incredible and breathtaking!
The height of the Hafelekar peak, located near Innsbruck, is 2,334 meters. The upper station of the funicular is located right there. From there you can enjoy panoramic views of the Nordkette mountain range, the Intal Valley and Innsbruck itself. Most striking is the 3,800-meter Grossglockner peak, one of the highest in the Alps.
Tourists also admire the ideal conditions created there. Three cable car stations are equipped with cafes, which have panoramic terraces. You can just take a table at the edge of the cliff, order a strong espresso or cappuccino with creamy foam, and breathe deeply, admiring the surrounding beauty!
Going into the history of the Nordkette cable car, you can learn that it was reconstructed in 2002 by the famous Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid. She also worked on the Bergisel springboard. Both objects are made in a futuristic style.
The new cab of the funicular departs every 15 minutes from the lower station, located near the Congress center of Innsbruck. The first station of the road, "Hungerburg", is located at an altitude of 300 meters from the foot of the mountain. The observation deck offers a magnificent panorama of Innsbruck. By the way, this station is almost never covered by clouds, so there is a possibility to take wonderful pictures there.
The second station, "Seegrube", is located at an altitude of 1,900 meters. You can even see Italy from there! Also, you can relax in a cozy cafe, preparing to conquer new heights.
The third and highest station of the Hafelekar cable car lies over the Intal Valley from a height of 2,334 meters. It is very cool there even in the hottest summer. So it is worth taking this into account when going on the road.
The Nordkette cable car will give you an unforgettable experience and a lot of great selfies!
