Historical museums bore you to death? Don`t you want to hear stories about someone who died out hundreds of years ago? There is a Museum in Austria that will change your mind. In the picturesque town of Hallein, there is a whole complex of attractions dedicated to the ancient Celts.
The entire history of the city is closely connected with this interesting ethnic group. They set up a settlement there. They also started mining salt, developing a salt mine. It's worth a visit, by the way.
It is better to start your tour with the Museum. It was founded in 1882. Initially, the building of the former civil hospital was given over to the exhibits. In 1930, the entire collection was moved to the city hall. The number of exhibits grew thanks to archaeologists who conducted their excavations nearby. 22 years later, the Museum changed its location again. It was then located in the gates of the city's fortifications. The building in which the Museum is now located was received only in 1970.
Meticulous Austrians carefully collected and transported the exhibits each time without losing a single ancient spoon.
The area of the Museum is 3000 square meters. There is a permanent exhibition. Temporary exhibitions are regularly held. If you are planning a trip, check out the Museum's website. There you can find out what you will be able to see when you arrive at the Museum.
Have you already enjoyed your time at the Museum? Did you know that it was the Celts who invented chain mail made of metal, seamless metal wheels, horseshoes, and more? They were innovators for their era, and many of their inventions are still used today. Then you can go explore the village!
This is the most exciting part of the tour. It's like going back in time. It is as if you come to visit ancient people, look at how they lived, what they ate, what they cooked, where they slept. The cool thing is that you can touch the exhibits in the Celtic village, and even learn to shoot a bow! Well, does going to the Museum still seem like a boring event?
