In ancient times, the first capital of Albania, the southern beauty Vlore was an important Adriatic seaport, and today it’s rightfully regarded as the best seaside resort. The famous Albanian Riviera starts at its coast. Its beaches are some of the best in the country, but even among them, there are highlights that shine brighter than others.

Surrounded by rocky mountains, the clearest sand and pebble beaches are lurking under the protection of the Karaburun Peninsula and Sazan Island. That’s why they are practically never windy, and the sea only toys with tender waves. It’s the exact spot where two southern seas meet, the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea. In some places, the water is so clear azure that it’s possible to see the bottom even at great depths, however, in others, the water is dark blue and it tries to lure you to the mysterious labyrinths of Poseidon’s underwater kingdom. One thing remains constant, the water is crystal clear, which is why the bottom here is loved by the colonies of Posidonia.

The most popular beaches are situated along a picturesque embankment. Equipped with lounge chairs and beach umbrellas, they are regarded as a perfect place for a family vacation with young children. The sea here is shallow, water is warm, and slopes are easy, it’s as if they were made especially for the youngest travellers. They also offer quick catamaran or banana boat rides for teenagers and adults that favour active leisure over lounge chairs.

Some beaches belong to hotels, but everyone can access them. A good example is the most beautiful and the most beloved by locals beach with a charming name, Nimfa. Small pebbles and clear light azure water can win over any tourist, same goes for fresh fish dishes, made on grilling a restaurant with an open terrace.

Another magnificent beach belongs to Hotel Liro located on a massive rock. One needs to take a lift and tackle a set of steep stone steps, however, the efforts will be worth it once the guests see the magical view. Several beach terraces are located on different levels, they are equipped with lounge chairs and minibars. And at the very top of the rock, there is an astonishing viewing platform with a fantastic panoramic view.
