Every year the city of La Chorrera turns into a bright holiday for 10 days. The country's famous agricultural fair, Feria De La Chorrera, takes place there. Judging by the name, it may seem that this event is boring and unattractive. But actually, Feria de La Chorrera resembles a carnival: contests, dances, music, parades and exhibitions, rodeos, and cockfights. All this time the city is full of flowers. Besides, the actions are accompanied by the aromas of ripe fruit and not always a harmonious chorus of pets.
Feria de La Chorrera begins at the end of January. A couple of days before the official opening, farmers from all over the country come to the city to start preparing for the exhibition: they design their stands, start selling fresh products, and allow children to play with animals.
Of course, this event is very important for the agricultural sector. After all, they not only present their achievements but also share their experience. Moreover, Feria De La Chorrera is interesting for locals and tourists, because the holiday has a fascinating cultural component. For example, folk ensembles are one of the main participants in daily festivities. Artists also talk about the traditions of the country, show small performances about the past of Honduras, teach children ancient games and dances.
Those who love folk jewelry can treat themselves there. Artisans from all over the country come for Feria de La Chorrera. The range of products is striking: everything from small pendants to furniture can be found at a thematic exhibition held as part of this fair.
Children are waiting for this holiday because some attractions are specially installed for the fair. And, of course, when else can you see and pat so many animals?
Those who have visited this fun event at least once say that it is a village carnival, which is kinder and more diverse than carnivals in Brazil.
