Haatafu Beach

You can see a humpback whale. Or a sunken ship. Or combers. It is all possible on Haatafu beach.

When you plunge with your feet into the white sand of the largest beach of the Tongatapu coral island, you lose touch with reality. You would spend time from sunup to sundown here. By the way, they are great.

The beach is located in the capital of the Tonga Kingdom, Nukualofa. You can get here by bus, watching the locals and the endless ocean from the window.

You will be surprised, but here are almost no people. All in all, it is a very calm place. Probably, it is the best one for taking a rest from people and a busy city. Despite the small number of people, you can find a lot of activities. You can sunbathe – the hot Haatafu sun gives your skin a seductive chocolate color. It is rather shallow near the coast, and the water is clear. It is a good place for swimming and snorkeling.

You can also ride a wave. Just take a board and do it, if you are an experienced surfer. In addition to many small restaurants, bars, and mini-hotels on the beach, there is a big surf resort. You have an opportunity to examine the remains of sunken ships. Here are a lot of them. Or you may look at the inhabitants of the coral reefs. Around them, there are fish of all colors and sizes.

To go further away and see something bigger, you need to take a boat. Are you ready to meet it? Go faster, the humpback whale is about to come to the surface!

Haatafu Beach is a must-see place in the Tonga Kingdom. It is a small point, but there you can relax, be alone, swim, and even see a whale!
