The soil is covered with thick wisps of lianas, they hang from above, twist the trees, tying them together and not letting to escape. And in the air is the heady smell of the exploded fruit of a bloody tree… and everywhere is heard the singing of wild birds.
The botanical garden of Norfolk Island is small, just 5 hectares, but on that territory, there is planted a huge number of rare plants. The walk there is unforgettable! Just because it is the only spot of the unique Norfolk rainforest. When the first settlers arrived on the island, they started to develop it and needed a place to graze the animals. The cattle destroyed the rare lianas.
Fortunately, nothing terrible happened and the unique flora of Norfolk was preserved in the park. The botanical garden is too small for this place. From one side, it seems that time flies – there are many rare and beautiful plants. From the other, you do not notice the hours and minutes because of the freshness and calm reigning in the park.
The smell is amazing there! Somewhere, that is a strong and pungent aroma, somewhere - light, subtle, delicate smell. In May and June, the Botanical Park is drowning in different smells, like in a perfume salon during the sales.
The park is built in such a way that paths, railings, bridges accurately suit the landscape. And some of them are captured by the iron lianas.
There are no animals in the park. But anytime during the year, you can hear the signings of various birds. The locals' advice to pay attention to the unusual fantasy bird. You should notice it. It always follows the tourists, looking for insects on the ground.
In the Norfolk Botanical Garden, you can have a great time, get to know the unique local plants and take a rest in the rainforest.
