Pukenamu Queens Park is one of the largest and most beautiful parks in Wanganui. It is located almost in the heart of the city and is considered a favorite place for residents, as well as a popular venue for various entertainment events.

The first thing that guests of Pukenamu Queens Park pay attention to is the incredibly beautiful Sarjeant Te Whare o Rehua gallery, built in 1919. The building itself has been modernized, in particular, its seismic stability has been strengthened and the area has been expanded to accommodate all the interesting exhibitions. It is worth coming there to get acquainted with the work of local artists and learn something new about the national culture.

Another calling card of Pukenamu Queens Park is the Wanganui Regional Museum. There is an impressive collection of unique artifacts that tell about the history of the Maori, their traditions, and changes in life that occurred after the arrival of European colonizers on their territory.

It is impossible to pass by the magnificent Art Deco building, slightly hidden by fluffy trees. This is a historical library. It contains not only books but also the most extensive database of family archives of the city and region.

Another important cultural object, the War Memorial Center, was built in the center of the park in 1960. This large complex serves as a kind of monument to all the people who died during the Second World War. The memorial center includes a large book of memory, which lists the names of all the residents who died during the war, several guns of that time, and a beautiful stained glass window, as a tribute to the heroes. This complex is one of the 50 best Art Nouveau buildings in the southern hemisphere.

There are also several protected trees in Pukenamu Queens Park. These are usually rare trees that have almost disappeared in the region, such as oaks, and a whole Avenue of Phoenix—lined with exotic palms and shrubs.
