Ju Raku En is the largest Japanese garden in Australia. Ju Raku En Japanese Garden covers an area of more than four hectares and is one of the brightest examples of national garden art outside of Japan. This amazing garden is located in the small town of Toowoomba.

Unlike other Japanese gardens that exist in some cities in Australia, Ju Raku En Japanese Garden is an example of a traditional Japanese garden and landscape art. Professor Kinsaku Nakane worked on the garden concept for more than three years. He came to the city of Toowoomba from Kyoto to implement this ambitious project.

The professor carefully selected every detail. There is nothing random about the garden. Each stone, bush, bench, and flower are arranged according to a specific plan and scheme. The master sought to achieve perfection, to create a beautiful garden that will fully reveal the features of Japanese philosophy.

Even more time was spent on the implementation of his project. After all, many components had to be imported directly from Japan. Some plants did not take root the first time, but the Professor refused to replace them with the local culture.

But all his efforts were fully rewarded when the grand opening of the Ju Raku En Japanese Garden took place in April 1989.

The name of the garden Ju Raku En translates very nicely: enjoy peace and longevity in this place. It is these words that fully convey the entire concept that the Japanese master worked on for so many years.

Everyone can get to the garden. The gates of this paradise are open to all visitors. And there are a lot of guests in the garden. It is loved not only by tourists but also by locals since everything is unusual in Ju Raku En Garden. There, every corner is imbued with the traditions and culture of Japan. But in some places, there is an unusual, but no less beautiful symbiosis of Eastern and national cultures.
